Ingredients
  • 3 Large eggs, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1/2 teaspoon anise seed (optional)
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 16 ounces baking chocolate
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
  1. Melt butter and set aside.

  2. Beat eggs and sugar until light yellow.

  3. Add melted butter and vanilla. Beat until blended.

  4. Sift together the flour, baking powder and anise seed.

  5. Add half of this mixture to the wet ingredients.

  6. Fold until blended, add remaining flour and fold again until thoroughly mixed.

  7. Heat pizzelle iron, place about 1 teaspoon of batter on grid and bake until golden brown, about 30-40seconds

  8. Remove and cool on rack. Repeat with remaining batter.

  9. Dip in chocolate and sprinkle with chopped nuts.
