Gingerbread Ornaments
Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
Instructions
  1. Beat butter and brown sugar in a stand mixer, until fluffy.

  2. Add egg, beat until just combined.

  3. Beat in molasses.

  4. Whisk together flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and salt.

  5. With mixer on low speed, gradually add the flour mixture to the mixer and mix until well-combined.

  6. Divide dough into 4 equal portions.

  7. Roll out each section between two pieces of parchment paper.

  8. Place rolled out dough on a baking sheet (or two) and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

  9. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for about 12 minutes, until edges fo cookie are slightly darker than the rest of the cookie. Allow to cool completely before decorating.

  10. Decorate as desired, before stringing twine through hole to hang on your tree.
